Serving the Atlanta area · Since 1984
Garage door servicesdone right the first time
A family shop that has been fixing and installing garage doors across the Atlanta area for over forty years. Broken springs, dead openers, doors off track, full replacements. Call us and you get a person who knows doors, not a script.
- Family owned and operated
- Servicing Atlanta 40+ years
- We answer our own phone
- Straight answers on repair vs. replace

Broken spring or a door that won’t move? Don’t run the opener.
The springs do the lifting, not the opener. Running it with a broken spring can bend the top section, snap a cable, or pull the door off the track — turning a spring job into a much bigger one. Leave it down and call us.

Why Kauffman
Forty years of the same phone number
We started working on garage doors in Atlanta in 1984 and never left the area. We are not a franchise, not a private-equity roll-up, and not a call center routing your job to whoever answers.
That matters more than it sounds. When you have been in one area for four decades, you cannot afford a bad job — you will see that customer at the grocery store. Nearly all of our work comes from people we have worked for before and people they told.
It also means we know the housing stock. We know which subdivisions went up with under-sized springs, which lake-adjacent doors rust from the bottom, and which older neighborhoods have openings a stock door will not fit.
- You get a price before we start, not after
- We will tell you when a repair beats a replacement
- The person who quotes the job is the person who does it
- We carry the common parts, so most repairs finish in one visit
Call right away if
Some of these should not wait
A garage door is the heaviest moving thing in most houses. A few symptoms mean stop using it now.
- Loud bang from the garage and now the door won’t open
- Door is crooked, off track, or hanging on one side
- Car is shut inside and you need to get out
- Door won’t close and you can’t lock up the house
How it goes
What happens when you call
No mystery pricing and no upsell script. Here is the whole process.
- 1
You describe the symptom
Noise, position, whether it moves at all. Nine times out of ten we can narrow it down on the phone and load the right parts.
- 2
We give you a real schedule
A time we can actually hit. We are a small crew, so we would rather say tomorrow morning than promise an hour we will miss.
- 3
Diagnosis and a price
We test the door under power and by hand, find what failed, and give you the number before any work starts.
- 4
Fix it and re-balance
Parts replaced, spring tension set to the actual door weight, opener limits and safety reverse re-checked before we leave.

Questions
Straight answers
If yours is not here, call and ask. We would rather talk it through than have you guess.
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Gainesville and cover Hall, Forsyth, Jackson, Gwinnett, Dawson and White counties, plus work down into the north Atlanta metro. That includes Flowery Branch, Oakwood, Buford, Cumming, Hoschton, Jefferson, Dawsonville and Cleveland. If you are near the edge of that, call and ask — we will give you a straight yes or no.
How much does a garage door repair cost?
It depends entirely on what failed. A roller set and a two-spring torsion system are not in the same range. What we will do is tell you the price before we start the work, not after. Call and describe the symptom and we can usually give you a realistic ballpark on the phone.
My spring broke. Can I still use the door?
No. Leave the door down and do not run the opener. The springs do the lifting, not the opener, and running it with a broken spring can bend the top section, snap a cable or pull the door off the track — turning a spring job into a much bigger one. If your car is shut inside, tell us when you call.
How soon can you get out here?
Call and we will tell you honestly what we have that day. We are a small family crew, not a franchise with twenty trucks, so we would rather give you a real time we can hit than a promise we cannot. Gainesville, Oakwood and Flowery Branch are typically the fastest.
Do you charge to come out and look?
Call us and ask — we will tell you exactly how our service call works before we schedule anything, so there is no surprise on the invoice. We do not do the thing where the number changes when the truck shows up.
Should I repair the door or replace it?
Most of the time, repair. Hardware is a wear item and a good steel door can last thirty years. Replacement makes sense when the bottom section is rusted through, panels are cracked at the hinge lines, the door has been hit, or replacement sections for that model are no longer made. We will tell you which situation you are in — including when the answer is the cheaper one.
Do you work on doors and openers you did not install?
Yes, and that is most of what we do. We service every common brand of door and opener, and plenty of the older ones that are no longer sold.
How long have you been in business?
Since 1984 — over forty years, family owned and operated, working out of Gainesville the whole time. We are not a national brand with a local phone number.
Door giving you trouble? Let’s get it sorted.
Call and tell us what it is doing. Most of the time we can narrow it down on the phone and bring the right parts on the first trip.
